First, I thank the 14,343 voters who elected me in 2014. I focused on all schools being accountable to the people by serving as Budget Chairman, Vice-President; Safe Schools Advocate, Special Needs Advocate; and Charter Schools Authorizer leader and advocate. Our County Board serves as a resource to 18 school districts’ teachers and children.
Second, I advocated consistent charter school authorization among traditional and charter governing boards assuring the best education possible; continued insisting on transparency and accountability for all schools, especially administrators and board members. School safety is our top priority focused on ending cyberbullying, physical violence, chronic absenteeism and active shooters.
Third, I will continue to work with our community colleges to allow high school students to take college courses in their schools during regular hours for diploma and degree credit. Students can complete the first year of college courses in high school saving parents a year of expensive tuition. Finally, being a leader for school safety, I spoke on radio, television, county grand jury and with the legislature for more resources for teachers and students, and accountability for school administrators. Consequently, teachers and Special Needs children, are better protected. Vote Belle: Ringing in quality Education!
